Here are the usual products of the Tardebigge and Shadow flocks.

We sell both coloured and white wool. The coloured wool may be pale or quite dark. The wool can also come form either shearling sheep or mature ewes.

The mature wool is shorter so spins more evenly, while the shearling makes excellent craft or rug wool. Both types felt well.

The paler coloured wool is very useful for dyeing as it gives a nice range of tones to the final product.

We usually shear in late May or June so get in touch if you would like some.

Stock available

With only 10 black ewes the number of lambs and skins available is limited and goes quickly.

2010 was particularly irritating with 8 black ram lambs and only 1 ewe lamb,

2011 had a better ratio with 50:50 ewes to rams but, because of the harsh winter we only had 6 black lambs born. Fortunately they were a very healthy bunch with the eldest ram lamb being particularly spectacular.

Our white flock is reknowned for the power and size of the rams. We also have a reputation for heavy wool clips. These three boys each clipped 45lbs of wool, winning the silver salver again. (10 times in 12 years is our current record for winning)

Wool available

Colored Lincolns have a variety of shades, from off-white to dark black.

Both types of wool available.

We have had some coloured wool commercially spun and Chris has had fun knitting it up. it is a mid-grey arran weight wool which is perfect for showing off intricate patterns.

Here are some examples of Chris's handiwork.

It is best to contact us for details of what is available since things can change very quickly.
