Welcome to the Home Page.
The Lincoln Longwool is one of the finest breeds of sheep ever seen in Britain. For centuries its wool brought untold riches to the east of England and financed most of the political ambitions of medieval English monarchs.
Now sadly fallen on hard times as man-made fibres and Australian Merinos flood the garment and carpet market. Nevertheless and small and dedicated band of enthusiasts keep the breed going. This is one such flock.
Actually now it is two such flocks, we have separated the registration of our black and white Lincolns into different flocks to avoid confusion. So welcome the Shadow flock of pedigree black lincolns.
The Tardebigge Flock of Lincoln Longwool Sheep was eastablished 20 years ago and we have spent most of that time trying to achieve the impossible- big sheep with great wool! The website will tell you more about our flocks and the breed in general.
We have had some excellent show results recently, this is the Royal Show breed champion in 2006. We also won in 2007. The demise of the Royal Show is a real shame, but there are now a lot of shows around and we have plenty of opportunity to exhibit our stock.
This year (2010) we have already been to Wonderwool Wales to demonstrate the breed and sell some fleeces. We are going to the 3 Counties and Monmouth and may take out black sheep to Ashby.
.
Our relaxed two-shear is typical of our flock.
Good sized lambs are what we aim for every year.
We compete regularly at shows such as The Three Counties with a fair degree of success. The Black lincolns are only allowed to compete at local shows, but are still very impressive.
